@Steve Hi Steve sorry for not being clear. I removed the pallet and put a 1/2 lbs weight and it was able to successfully completely unwind without stopping. When I put the pallet back in, along with the 9lbs weight on the pulley, the escapement stops after about 3 minutes. I don't think it is friction as it works find with the pallet removed but doesn't with the pallet put in

Hi steve. Sorry to bother you but I am at wits end. I have added an extension to my weight so it is holding about 9lbs now and have noticed NO friction when the pallet is removed and the escapement is still losing power after about 3 minutes. Please help

@Steve Thank you so much and I am so sorry for bothering you so much but I do have 1 more question. I am having problems finding cheap (under $50) lead shot or any material denser than the slingshot ammo that I used and was wondering if you had any recommendations. (In U.S.)

Hi Steve! Thanks for your suggestions. I went ahead and tested each of the gears individually in the frame and then all together with the pallet removed and I did not notice any binding or friction. The only solution I am seeing is printing a quarter or half extension and increasing the weight to 7 or more lbs, as it is currently at 6.3lbs. I am not understanding what you mean for the weight shell directly on the cord. Do you want me to remove the pulley and attach the loop of the fishing wire to the pulley pin? Should I try that first?

Hi Steve sorry to bother you again but I found another problem. Occasionally, the escapement stops after slowing down for 5 seconds and I was wondering if you knew where the most likely spot of trouble would be? After I push on the ratchet or the weight it begins again but that cant happen when I am not present.

Hi steve! Thanks for your help! I ended up (accidentally) completely drilling out the bottom bearing hole with a 3/8 drill bit so the bearing fits loosely in that hole. It seems to have worked, as the pendulum has been ticking for about 3 minutes now. The only other problem I had was that the escapement stopped but that appears to have stopped by itself. Now all i have to do it make sure it is accurate! Thanks!

Thanks steve! The looseness I am referring to is the fit of the bearings on the 3mm rod. It is quite loose and was wondering if the interior of the bearing is supposed to be tight on the rod. The fit of the bearings in the frame is quite tight so i might file the holes out a bit to make it a bit looser but I was wondering about the fit of the interior on the rod.

Hi steve. I did what you said and narrowed the problem to the pendulum and pallet. It only swings for about 1 minute even after I widened the hole in the frame. I noticed the rod was not a tight fit in the bearings so I was wondering if that could be causing it? I also noticed that the rod can easily slide up and down in the frame. Please let me know if the bearings are supposed to be a tight fit, as it is really loose, so i can get a different rod or different bearings. Thanks!

Hi steve! I successfully finished the clock but I am having major problems that I suspect are related to friction. The escapement sometimes stops, not the pallet, as in no power is being transmitted to the escapement. Any ideas about what I should do? Another problem I am having is sometimes the pendulum stops when the escapement still has power. Thanks for all your help. Any clue where and how I should minimize the friction?

Hi steve! I have already purchased the materials from McMasterCarr and Amazon so I am probably going to stick to the small pendulum clock. Thanks for all you do! One last question: How would you recommend I measure the music wire?
