It sits between the lower standoffs to help maintain the position when winding. It is completely optional.
I added it after the initial release, but didn't want to change the assembly guide for this minor change. Editing the pdf file removes the old version from the zip file and doesn't always add the new one back in.
Thanks Steve. I have the clock done. Just have to print out the weight shell. Since I'm doing most all of your clocks I've printed out all the weight shells with some cheap gray filament and use them for testing then when I find the one that works best I print it in the color I want. btw, I got all the desk clocks working perfect now. I also re-created the base and lower pendulum arm to fit the other pendulum drivers PC board and changed the bottom of the arm to take the large single magnet that come on those other drivers. I'll post pictures and .stl's soon so anyone who can't get the driver with the battery coil type can use the other one. To be honest those pendulum drivers seem much stronger and haven't had 1 bad one yet compared to the other ones being hit or miss.
I will have to check out the other style of drive module. When I designed the clock, eBay was mostly populated with the style I used, although Amazon seemed to have more of the other style at around double the price. Maybe I should try to update the design to support both.
Well all I did to your original base.stl was to take a hollow tub in Tinkercad
down through the hole of the circle to just make the circle big enough for the slightly larger plastic coil cap. And into the body of the base to allow perfect fit of the little PCB. And just made the lower half of the pendulum arm end smaller.
Forgot to say I use all these little tiny levels on all the clocks after I wind them in case I moved it while winding.
