SP5: 32 Day Easy Build Wall Clock

This clock was redesigned to make it as easy as possible to build, hence the name "Easy Build". This version is slightly smaller than SP4 and has runtime options as long as 32 days between winding. This is probably my favorite clock design.

Components were consolidated to make a smaller bill of materials. This clock uses one size of ball bearings and one size screw. Some components needed in the previous clocks were eliminated completely.

Part of the design simplification involved moving the pendulum arm to the side so the overall layout is more horizontal. The dial has a simplified look, although a traditional Roman numeral dial is also provided.

The modified pendulum makes this clock more efficient so the runtime was increased with options ranging from 8 days to 32 days. Re-printing two gears allows the runtime to be changed. The longest runtimes require more drive weight and the pendulum beat must be set very accurately to get them to run. The shorter runtime options are much more reliable. I prefer the most reliable option of 8 days in my clock.

The overall size of this clock is around 12" (30cm) by 7" (18cm) with an 6" (15cm) dial. It can be printed on a Prusa Mini or any machine with a print area of at least 160x160mm.

Assembly and debug videos are shown below. The assembly video shows the larger version of the clock, but this clock is similar enough to follow along.
