    Alternate stepper motor

    in Electric Clocks

I have some steppers from an Ender 3 Pro. These measure 6 ohms. Do you see any problem just adding 24 or 25 ohms in series with the windings to limit the current? Wondering if anyone has tried this?

I tried it with some 2-3 ohm motors and it didn't work well. The magnetic field generated inside the motor is proportional to the current times the number of wire turns. A low ohm motor has fewer turns and would take a higher current than the Arduino is capable of safely producing.

Thanks. I was hoping the number of turns wasn't greatly different. Guess I'll just need to get the 30 ohm motor.
