Hi Steve I've just purchased your battery electric clock from myminifactory and note that the base has changed from that shown on your initial YouTube video. I can see that the new base probably has less material in it and will print more quickly, but personally I prefer the original. Could this me made available and if so is it compatible with the rest of the design as published? Thanks Mike

Hi Mike,
The real reason for the modified base is to get it to print better.
It didn't matter how well I cleaned the print bed, the square base always wanted to lift at the corners. The large print area of each layer creates a lot of stress as it cools from the melting temperature down to the bed temperature. I have a couple of bases that lifted into the print head on or near the top layer. There are drag marks all over the top.
The X shaped base has much less surface area near the top, so it is less likely to pull up on the corners. It often prints perfectly or with minimal lifting on the corners. It prints 20% faster using 40% less material.
I modified several features since the preliminary video. The front legs were brought closer together and pushed forward to give the pendulum more room. The original square base does not work anymore. The optimal shape is now a trapezoid. I prefer to not update the design because of how much trouble I had trying to get the old square base to print.
