Steve - Got the moon clock running (it is so awesome btw) and am starting to calibrate. I saw some of your content about how the gear teeth only go one direction so only need a proper tooth profile on one side. Can you share more about that? Looking at the teeth on the gears, the sides that engage other teeth have a flat profile while the sides that do not engage look like normal involute profiles. Am I missing something?
Thanks,
GA
The flat tooth side is the involute profile. The side that looks like a knife blade is set for clean printing. The gears alternate directions. One will rotate CW and the next one rotates CCW. Most gears have the large gears driving a small pinion, but the hour hand gears have the small pinion driving a large gear. It's a bit tedious keeping track of all the details. I will post some pictures when I get back to my computer in a few days.
