That's strange, but good news. I knew it was supposed to fit. The settings must have been different in the old version.
I started with PrusaSlicer, then added SnapMaker Orca. They are similar enough that I can usually find what I need. I get completely lost trying to find my way around in Cura, even though Google says it is supposed to slightly easier to use. Every slicer seems to have a million knobs to turn.
Hang in there, it gets easier after a while. The assembly guide will list the recommended print parameters. The important settings are the number of wall loops (or perimeters). Most parts probably want 4 walls, but a few parts might be listed to use 5. And if the manual says to use the Classic slicer for the gears, they will print significantly better with Classic.
