Electromagnetic Pendulum Clock

Steve thanks for putting the effort into developing this design. Though I have made several mechanical and electromechanical clocks they have all been conventional metal ones. This is the first 3D clock and indeed almost my first 3D project as I am relatively new to the process. I’m amazed at the efficiency of the pendulum drive unit and was initially sceptical that it would drive such a large movement.

I decided on the small dial as I liked the look of the arched front top section, it was all printed in PLA on an Ender 3 V2

Thanks. I really like the second clock with the rotary pendulum. Selecting a clock as the first project on a 3D printer is impressive. You did a great job.


I also noticed that the arched top support looks a lot better and have been preparing arches for the large size dial to add to the design.


The driver used in this clock is intended to drive a free-swinging pendulum. Adding a second battery was required to compensate for the energy lost to the ratchet. The remainder of the gear train is geared down, so very little extra energy is needed.
